Yeah… if you want to.
Or no, if you don’t want to.
Eating carbs at night won’t make you fat, and eating carbs at night won’t make you shredded.
The timing of your meals – and more specifically, the timing of your carbohydrate intake – isn’t that important.
What is important is the total number of calories you consume by the end of the day, the specific proportion of protein, carbs, and fats that make up those daily calories, and whether or not your eating schedule is set up to maximize athletic performance.
Personally, I like eating carbs at night, but that’s because 1.) It allows me to stay energized during the day (too many carbs early on makes me feel lethargic), 2.) That’s when I go out with my family and friends (and want to eat a carb-loaded meal), and 3.) It ensures that I go to bed feeling full.
But hey, that’s just me.
And you have to figure out what works best for YOU.
If you enjoy eating carbs at night – or feel it works best with your current schedule (both career and lifting wise) – eat carbs at night.
If you don’t enjoy eating carbs at night – or feel you’d rather eat carbs during the earlier parts of the day – do that.
Either way, you’ll be fine as long as your calories and macronutrient breakdown are in line with your current goals.
And, if you take anything from this article, let it be this:
Carbs at night will NOT make you fat.
